Roscoe the Puppy - Free Pattern

by Christi @ xtporter
This little fellow is so cute and so cuddly. I started him on Friday afternoon and finished him Saturday afternoon, the next day! It was great fun to make my little puppy. I hope you will enjoy this pattern and the resulting cuddles.

One thing I wanted to mention - if you're making this toy for a small child, you may wish to substitute embroidered eyes and nose for the plastic type. Customize the pattern to suit your needs. Have fun!

Basic, Easy Leg Warmers - Free Pattern

by Christi @ xtporter
This is a great beginner project for someone who wants a cute accessory but is tired of making scarves and hats. ;) It's cute and easy and fast, and will give you some good experience with using double point needles (dpns). Enjoy!

Skill Level: Beginner

Materials:
Worsted weight yarn, 1 skein
Size 8 (5mm) dpns
Yarn needle

Notes:
For a snugger fitting rib, use size 7 (4.5mm) dpns for the ribbing and the size 8 (5mm) dpns for the st st portion of the leg warmer.

The yarn I used is Red Heart Super Saver in the "Heartfelt" colorway, 1 skein

CO 44 sts. Join to work in the round, being careful to avoid twisting the stitches.
Work in k1 p1 rib for 15 rounds
Work in st st in rounds until piece measures 10.5" (or desired length) from the CO round
Work in k1 p1 rib for 15 rounds, then BO all sts

Weave in all ends

Haiku Hat - Free Pattern

by Christi @ xtporter
This is a whimsical hat. As I worked the design, I noticed that the 5-7-5 pattern of row counts was like a haiku, a poem using syllables of the same count on each line. Enjoy the pattern; it's really fun to wear as it is to make.

Skill Level: Easy

Materials: Four colors of worsted weight yarn
Size 8 (5mm) dpns (double point needles)
Yarn needle

Notes: The colors of the yarn are designated by letters. A=Brown, B=Cream, C=Orange, and D=Gold. At each round, the color to be used is indicated in parentheses. Example: Rnd 56 (B)

Either carry the unused color along the work as you knit, or break yarn at each color change. Be advised that if you chose to cut the yarn at each color change, there will be as many ends to weave in at the end of the project.

The 5-7-5 color pattern is separated by two rounds of color B between each color.

Snug fitting Mitts and Matching Hat - Free Pattern

Mittsby Christi @ xtporter
This is a cute set of a hat and mitts made using Caron Simply Soft yarn in the Stick and Stones colorway. The mitts look snug, and they are-this is so that they stay put and keep you warm while you wear them. In a cool office, while driving, or around the house, they're warm and snug and fit wonderfully. And of course, they're perfect to wear if you've a chill while knitting or crocheting. ;)

HatThe hat is made using the same yarn and makes a charming set. The hat is made to be worn one of two ways. With an extra long ribbing done in a larger gauge, it can be worn as a slouchy beanie and the added tassel is a sweet novelty. Otherwise, the ribbing can be turned up as a cuff and the hat worn as a traditional beanie. In this way, the "pinwheel" shaped decreases on top are brought into relief. Pattern follows.
